First Endurance 2017 Ultra Running Team

With continued commitment and support towards the growth of ultra running, we are proud to announce the First Endurance 2017 running team.

We are partnering with 7 returning veterans and two new talented additions to help them achieve their goals and support their nutritional requirements during ultra running races, FKT attempts and a variety of adventures they seek out. While logging miles in preparation for the demanding distances and conditions these athletes compete in, they provide valuable contributions to testing and feedback, helping us in formulating the best endurance nutrition products on the market.

In 2016 the ultra running team stood at the top of the podium, set FKT’s and set new records throughout the season. Karl Meltzer, known as the winningest 100-mile runner on earth with 38 100-mile wins, accomplished another staggering feat in 2016 setting a new Appalachian Trail speed record. Karl claimed the big daddy of FKT’s crossing the 2,190-mile iconic Appalachian Trail in 45 days, 22 hours and 38 minutes “fueled by a serving of Ultragen at every aid stop”.  We are thrilled to have the Speedgoat returning for his 14th year with First Endurance.

Both Krissy Moehl and Darcy Piceu have been racing in the ultra world for years with great success and will continue to be fueled by First Endurance for the eleventh year. Krissy is the author of ‘Running Your First Ultra’, a race director with multiple FKT’s, ultra victories and course records. Most recently she climbed to the top step of the podium in 2016 with wins at the Cascade Crest Classic 100 miler and the Quicksilver 100k. Similarly, Darcy has a lengthy list of ultra wins and course records to her name and added the Bigfoot 100 miler overall win and the Wasatch 100 victory to her impressive resume last year and is sure to be at the front end of ultra racing again this season.

Fourth year First Endurance veterans Ty Draney & Jacob Puzey are adventures, racers, race directors and coaches and are back for more in the 2017 season. Last season Jacob added winning the 50km Canadian Championship race and the Grizzly Ultra 50km race to his numerous course records and ultra wins. The cap to his successful season was executing a crushing sub 6-minute mile pace for 5 hours to become the 50-mile treadmill World Record holder. Ty, who is known to push the limits in his adventures and racing, has posted course records at the Pocatello 50km, the Grand Teton 100 and the Scout Mountain 35km. With some planning currently in the works, we’ll likely be seeing more epic adventures from Ty this year (he was hampered with an achilles injury last year) as he works towards his late season goals.

Embarking on his 7th season with First Endurance, Duncan Callahan is a two-time Leadville 100-mile winner. He first partnered with First Endurance in 2010 and is rejoining the team after a year’s hiatus from racing to recharge and is ready to add to his ultra results this year.

Well acquainted with First Endurance products through his brother and fellow First Endurance team member Jacob, Tommy Puzey joins the team with numerous wins under his belt and has started the 2017 season off hot. In January, Tommy defended his 2016 win at the Rock’n’Roll Arizona Marathon with a blistering sub 2:20 marathon effort for his first win of the 2017 season. Last year, Tommy was part of the gold medal winning US Team at the 50km World Championships and also won the grueling Trans Rockies 6-day solo race.  To supplement a stressful schedule, Puzey relies on OptygenHP, MultiV-PRO, and Ultragen on a daily basis” and also stated

“Incorporating First Endurance into my nutrition has been incredibly transformative. It has become an absolutely necessary part of my daily routine. No other product line has proven more effective in keeping me primed during competition and aiding in recovery afterward.”

Calum Neff joins the team this year having previously used the First Endurance nutrition system with success. In addition to a slew of road and trail victories and course records, Calum is a member of the Canadian Ultra running team and most recently set two World Records over the half and full marathon distance pushing a stroller. With an eventful season ahead Neff said “I am very excited to be joining the First Endurance team after several years of successful results using the products. My go-to race nutrition has been the Electrolyte Fueling System (EFS). Training for my first ultra, the mountainous 125km Canadian Death Race, I was in search of the highest quality and simplest way to fuel and stay hydrated. EFS packs the most amount of electrolytes and a perfect balance of carbohydrates that kept my energy steady all day. I have gone on to use EFS for fast 5k’s, record setting marathons, and all the way up to all-day ultra-marathons.”  Upon partnering with First Endurance, Neff remarked

“Most important for my nutrition is knowing I am training and competing fairly and clean. First Endurance stands by the same commitment ensuring their products do not contain any banned performance enhancing ingredients.”

“I’m looking forward to being part of an impressive team of athletes and pushing my limits further this year using the innovative race nutrition from First Endurance.”
