Lauren Goss took home her fourth Olympic distance victory this season at the second stop of the Escape Triathlon Series in Des Moines.

After picking up wins at Escape Alcatraz, NYC Triathlon and St.Anthony’s Triathlon, Goss said “I decided to race Des Moines Triathlon 1 week before one of my bigger races of the year (Beijing International Triathlon) as a tune up just to remind myself how to race after a 6-week training block. It was an easy drive from Boulder, so it made sense to jump in. Also, I wanted to support the series as Olympic distance racing is my favorite.”

Goss had the second fastest swim with the top four swimmers exiting the water all within 4 seconds of one another, held pace with the lead bike split and stormed home with a dominating race best run to claim the Des Moines Tri win in 1:55:32, 2:28 quicker than second place Sarah Haskins and 4:02 ahead of third place Erin Storie. After the race Goss said “I wanted to conserve as much as I could during the race so that I am ready to go next weekend in Beijing.”

“I sat in on the swim, pushed the first 10k of the bike and then just settled into the pace of the group and then ran to grab the win!”

“It was really fun to race again in Des Moines. This is one of my favorite places to race and I have many good memories here!”
