First Endurance rider Amber Neben (Specialized-lululemon) won the Gold medal in the time trial at the Pan American Championships in Mar Del Plata, Argentina on Friday. Her time of 26.60.096 put her almost a minute ahead of Rae Shaw of Canada with Clemilda Silva of Brazil finishing in third place.
The 20km flat out and back course was “super windy” according to Neben who completed the return leg of the course six minutes faster than the way out.
“I’m really excited with this win,” said Neben, former World Time Trial Champion. “I’m very focused on the time trial at the moment being an Olympic season and this is a great start to the season for me.”
Amber will now race the road race on Sunday with her US National Team teammates.
